Great reminder of what it means to human. We act and feel based on history, context, and our very own βfiltersβ that we employ. I would like to suggest that we also need to learn how to be present to see and appreciate truths and facts. Our collective survival as a species and society requires that we also accept that there are truths.
As always, a lovely reminder and perspective shift for the day. Reminds me of the book βThe Forgetting Machineβ by neuroscientist Rodrigo Quian Quiroga.
Such a thoughtful piece! I agree, things are only as we see them. At 11, I tried to give everyone the benefit of the doubt when they said or did something that hurt my feelings. I never regretted my life choice to hesitate when I got irritated. It didn't always stop me from jumping to a conclusion, but I avoided a lot of conflicts that way. I wish more people would be aware as you are, and your writing will help. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Itβs always hard but beautiful when we can return to that child-like wonder. That pause you learned so young is such a powerful practice. Iβm happy the piece resonated with you
this was so well-written and put into words a lot of what iβve been thinking about recently but have been unable to describe. thank you for writing this!
This alone, so on point: "interpretation is an active process."
Highlighted and saved lots of this, thank you!
yesss exactly!!! also thank you so much, Iβm glad it resonated
I loved how cleanly you explained this concept. They way you put it makes it so understandable and forces the reader to self reflect. Great piece!

I'm Sorry, pero voy a dejar el comentario en espaΓ±ol. CΓ³mo ves la vida a travΓ©s de tus lentes es todo. Para uno un gato es un animal maravilloso y para otros es un bicho del diablo.

Silvia, your dad's "lens" lesson at 11 is gold, perception as active filter explains so much adult friction.
100%!
Π’he awareness that perspective is a choice, is a gift that your dad gave you and most people donβt get it until adulthood, . Stunning piece!
thank you so much! Iβm glad you enjoyed it
Sobering⦠If not AI-generated, it shows the way we are already artificially intelligent.
Interesting perspective, I always thought itβs what made us human. But you might be onto somethingβ¦
This is truly incredible.
